RUDN is the most multinational University in Russia, uniting representatives of 160 countries of the world, 500 nationalities. Annually over 9000 international students study at the University. It was founded in 1960 and in in 1961 was named after Patrice Lumumba — one of the symbols of the African peoples’ fight for independence. Students and academics could be free to pursue their learning, teaching, and research activities at, without being subject to political context, but firmly directed to the grand principles of friendship and mutual support.
The University was created to train high-quality specialists for Africa, Asia and Latin America. Multicultural cooperation and mutual aid is one of the main principals of the University.
The University offers over 300 educational programs (e.g. technical, scientific, medical, economic, humanitarian one). In RUDN University an ambitious student has an opportunity to become a theoretically and practically advanced specialist. RUDN University has over 200 laboratories, more than 40 scientific research and educational centers with modern equipment, annual scientific conferences, grants, scholarships, joint scientific projects with leading foreign institutions of higher education, researches of federal and global scale.
RUDN University campus is one of the biggest in Russia, it is a real city in the city. Academic and housing buildings, sport facilities and several stadiums, a clinic, a library, a culture centre, numerous cafés for any taste are within walking distance on the territory of 50 hectares. The heart of the campus is the fountains — the students’ favourite area for walking. The campus is situated on the highest point of Moscow and is surrounded with a park. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the center of the capital. 14 dorms are offered for comfortable staying for international students.
Around 500 employees of the University are inventors and development engineers. The University has over 150 patents and over 870 copyright certificates.

The Campus of the University is one of the biggest in Russia. On the territory of 50ha there are academic and housing buildings, sport venues, stadiums, medical center, library, shops and cafes, fountains and parks. It takes 20 minutes to get to the center of Moscow.
In the campus there are 14 dorms where over 9000 students can enjoy comfortable accommodation. The dorms consist of blocks and there are 2 types of hostels.
- 5 - storey buildings (1-8 blocks). Rooms with all modern facilities (kitchen, shower, bathrooms) and rooms are equipped with bathrooms, fridges, TV. The Internet is available everywhere. Shower cabins, laundry, ironing rooms and a luggage room are located on the ground floor. In five-story buildings, all rooms are designed for 2-3 people. - High-rise buildings (9-14 blocks). Flat-type rooms, equipped with bathrooms, kitchens are located on the floors. All high-rise buildings are equipped with elevators. For those, who prefer art and cultural activities there is an international cultural center – Interclub. Students can attend lessons on the pop, classical vocal, belly, dancing, acting etc.
There is an excellent medical center at the University, equipped with modern medical facilities, offering a full range of medical services.
